What is Gasukan?"Gasukan," having had its first meetup October 11th 2007 at Gasworks Park in Seattle WA, is the monthly cosplay/anime meetup for cosplayers, anime lovers, photographers, and Japanese/Asian culture enthusiasts in the Northwest area. Regular attendees hail from Canada to Oregon, and some have even trekked up from beyond these locations. Gasukan events are free and friendly, and are generally held in the central Seattle area.
The Purpose of Gasukan?The purpose is plain and simple. Make new friends who share the same interests, have fun, and get photos of cosplays in a non-convention setting! Every Gasukan we try to choose new locations, and along the way everyone gets to see a different part of Seattle! It is a tradition that the October Gasukan (where it all began) is held at Gasworks Park. During the winter-time, Gasukan may be held at repeat locations or at venues more suited for indoors rather than outdoors due to various weather conditions.

Madness, Mayhem, and Halloween provides a broad range in costume/character/series choices. You could dress up in general Halloween outfits as a prelude to the holiday, series known for containing characters who are mad, destructive, and series that are filled with madness in itself (example would be Lewis C

Fantasy; example series being Final Fantasy, Escaflowne, Slayers, and any other series under the "Fantasy" genre. This theme is also open to ANYTHING under the "Fantasy" genre, really. Fairies, mythical creatures, etc fit the theme to a T. The location is a forested, floral area; characters/series that fit this setting would make for wonderful photos, as well.

Yukata/Summer Festival & Beach: Just like the title says, it's about summer! This Gasukan will be held at Lincoln park, which sports a forested trail, and a wide expanse of beach and water. Cosplayers are encouraged to pick characters/cosplays with summery, light and beach-friendly outfits to make the most of this location. The other side is the Yukata/Summer Festival theme.
